Question: What do you remember most about the Women Leading Baltimore event? How has the experience impacted your life?

Answer: What I remember most about the Women Leading Baltimore event was the energy and excitement of the women who were mentors and mentees. I remember this feeling so strongly because it made me feel powerful and hopeful for my own future. I loved being in the presence of so many accomplished women and having great conversations in the speed networking sessions. Every woman was successful, kind, and beautiful--I loved it!

Women Leading Baltimore has allowed me to gain a mentor and friend for life. My mentor from Women Leading Baltimore is an accomplished woman in finance and through my relationship with her I gained more exposure to the financial sector, an industry that I will enter post-graduation.

Question: Can you describe your relationship with Ms. Mitchell? How has it evolved over the years?

Answer: Over the years, my relationship with Ms. Mitchell has grown from me being assigned to “shadow” her for one day to her being a lifelong mentor, friend, and advocate for me. I am so grateful that we have stayed in touch. Over the years, Ms. Mitchell continues to offer me practical advice, inspiration, recommendation letters and referrals.

Question: Why is it important to have a mentor? What advice would you give to a high school girl looking for a mentor?

Answer: It is so important for everyone to have a mentor. A mentor helps one’s professional and personal development. A mentor is key to staying on track, seeing a brighter future for oneself, and reaching one’s goals. For a high school girl looking for a mentor, I would remind her that there are potential mentors all around her! She may even have a mentor right now and not know it. Continue to stay engaged in school activities and programs, like Women Leading Baltimore, because there are always people around who are willing to help.
